This site is run by Raf Verbeelen, living with Evelien Willemsen and our kids Sira and Yasin in Antwerp, Belgium. Since his first backpacking trip in 2000 to Morocco, North Africa has become Raf’s primary destination. He made cycle-tours in Morocco and Egypt with some friends (2003 – 2004) before Evelien and Raf started travelling together. Followed two tours in southern Tunisia (2005 & 2006) – also by bicycle – and two visits to Morocco: Tanger in 2007 and the Anti-Atlas in 2008, the latter with our daughter Sira, then 7 months old.
Apart from travels in the region, this interest results in some contributions to publications. Raf is the author of the chapter on North Africa of the Adventure Cycle-touring Handbook, published by Trailblazer publications:
